And to top things off, Nikon has released their new AF-S NIKKOR 35mm f/1.4G , and a new AF-S NIKKOR 200mm f/2G ED VR II Primes, these are both nice fast lenses, and being primes should hold up excellent image quality.

Olympus E-5 DSLR

I must admit that I'm a bit of a fan of the Olympus E series. I use the rather compact E-510 as one of my cameras for aerial photography. So I was pleased to hear that the long-awaited E-5 finally made its appearance.

It's a fairly standard 12.3 megapixel with a 3-inch dual-axis swiveling LCD, a TruePic V+ image processor and full-time Live View system. The body is splash and dustproof and crafted out of magnesium alloy. The E-5 has a 720p movie mode with a 7 minute-per-clip maximum, in-body mechanical image stabilization and an 11-point auto focus system. There's also wireless flash control, support for both CompactFlash and Secure Digital (SDHC / SDXC) cards (what, no more xD cards? Hurray!). ISO range from 100 to 6400. However, the asking price is a hefty $1,699.99 for the body alone, so is there something in the Press Release we have overlooked?

2 X Phoenix Simulators
This is what you have been waiting for, a chance to crash your plane in your living room at no expense or damage incurred.

We have been sent a couple of copies of the Phoenix Simulator which now appears to be really taking off (excuse the pun).

It is our intention to see how the radio controlled PKZ Corsair, PKZ Trojan T28D and the EF 2000 jet all handle in an in depth comparison to reality and the Phoenix Flight Simulator.

Whilst Phoenix is really catching on in the overseas model plane industry we suspect that Wayne at www.brooknet.net.au has been largely instrumental in its recent success in Australia.

So put this upcoming review in your social diary to see how it fares on three counts when compared to the real thing!

Note that the Review is now completed and is on this site
