Thrunite catapult V3 torch
Has the Thrunite Catapult V3 LED torch now got the “golden crown” as the brightest light thrower on the market today? With Catapult quoting ANSI lumens and the Jetbeam LED RRT3 torch quoting lumens, which shines the furthest??

I have been assured by someone who has ALL varieties of torches available to test in his retail store, that the Catapult V3 by Thrunite shines a lot further than the Jetbeam RRT3 and most other LED torches. Well words are cheap! So we said to James at www.ledtorchshop.com.au “never mind the specifications or which lumens they declare, send us one and we will find out for sure”.

We will do an independent test of the Thrunite Catapult V3 against the Jetbeam RRT3 in a “shine the furthest” contest. Mind you, we are still going to comment on ease of operation as well as the build quality.

So if you want to know if it is bright enough to win, read on cos’ I reckon it’s too bright only when it burns out someone’s eye sockets at 300+ metres.

The Elite Home Security system, the Swann DVR8-2600 8 Channel with Smartphone viewing has been coupled to a camera called the Swann Pro 690 Super-High Resolution Pan, Tilt & Zoom Dome camera. This camera is so NEW to the marketplace that at the time of going to print, the Swann Pro 690 hasn’t yet been allocated a RRP but it will surely prove to be good reading. Along with reviewing the four standard cameras (Pro 580’s) which are normally included in the package, we will also look at another new item to the marketplace, the Pro 680 manual focus camera.

  We have just been sent some of the latest upmarket home security equipment from Swann, so we will compare this new  DVR8 2600 and cameras to the DVR4 Pro-Net previously reviewed on this site to see how Swann technology has advanced in home security systems.

We will test these products and comment on their application in a similar manner to the very successful reviews done on this site. We believe we can help you in your decision making and subsequent purchases of high quality security systems that are “fit for purpose”.

We did some research and asked Kellettshobbies for the popular ST Models Fox Glider 1800 BNF just to see why and if this glider is really as good as people say it is. Next we will “sus’ out” a new arrival war plane - the BNF ST Focke Wulf 190A. Complete with wheel retracts, this plane does not appear to have been reviewed by anyone yet so it will be interesting to see where it fits into our 23 plane Comparison review as well.

To celebrate the opening of their revamped website, Kelletts Hobbies have provided us with a sample of products from their huge stock selection. Whilst Kellets have been around since 1978, the website has just been upgraded to provide a more accessible range of hobby products for the online buyer. Kelletts are not new to supplying top boats, buggies, helicopters, planes and all spare parts and ancillaries and we also discovered they even generally stock all the winning planes that featured in our 23 plane comparison shown on this site under “Best RC Electric Planes Compared”.

Last year our dog was killed by a tiger snake. Ever since that time I have been on the lookout for a snake repelling system that's effective and not too expensive. I think I may have found such a system: the Snake Defense MP Plus. Courtesy of Derwent Traders who sent me a number of these units we are now in a position to try them out and report on how we go. The way the Snake Defense MP Plus system works is based on sound principles (in more ways than one!) and doesn't look like snake oil….
