Aussie legend Steven Bradbury and hundreds of everyday Australians teams up to make history at Sydney’s Royal Botanic Garden with Ecovacs Robotics.
Today Ecovacs Robotics has officially secured a Guinness World Records™ title for the “Most People Performing ‘Dad Stance’ Simultaneously”, with 380 Australians gathering at The Calyx in Sydney’s Royal Botanic Garden to create what may be Australia’s largest-ever ‘Lawn of Dads’.
Led by Olympic gold medallist Steven Bradbury, participants assembled in their finest dad-inspired attire and held the iconic pose, feet planted firmly apart, hands on hips, silently observing technology at work, for the required 30 seconds under the supervision of an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ adjudicator.
The record attempt celebrated a unique phenomenon: the ‘Lawn of Dads’, a collective noun coined by ECOVACS to describe the inevitable gathering that forms whenever dads encounter a piece of clever machinery, particularly one that promises to do a traditionally hands-on job for them.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have officially achieved a Guinness World Records title,” said Karen Powell, Regional Director of Ecovacs Robotics Australia and New Zealand. “Today we didn’t just break a record, we created the world’s largest ‘Dad Stance’ and celebrated the joy people get from seeing outdoor robotics solve everyday problems.”
Steven Bradbury added, “I’ve been involved in a few memorable moments over the years. This one, however is left of field… hundreds of people doing a ‘Dad Stance’ in the middle of Sydney while watching the robotic lawnmowers get to work.”
