FUJIFILM Australia has announced the FUJINON GF19-35mmT3.5 PZ OIS WR, the second power zoom lens in its GF Series, extending the GFX cinema ecosystem into the ultra-wide range for professional filmmakers.
Designed specifically for the GFX ETERNA 55 large-format cinema camera, the new lens delivers a 19–35mm focal length (equivalent to 15–28mm in full-frame terms), a constant T3.5 aperture, optical image stabilisation and electronic power zoom control.
The GF19-35mmT3.5 PZ OIS WR joins the existing GF32-90mmT3.5 PZ OIS WR to provide filmmakers with seamless coverage from ultra-wide through to standard focal lengths while maintaining identical physical dimensions for faster lens changes and simplified rigging.
According to Shaun Mah, General Manager, Electronic Imaging & Optical Devices Division, FUJIFILM Australia, the new lens expands creative possibilities while streamlining production.
“Combining an ultra-wide focal range, cinema-style operability and exceptional image quality, this new power zoom lens gives filmmakers greater creative flexibility while supporting more efficient production workflows. Together with the GF32-90mmT3.5 PZ OIS WR, it provides a versatile lens solution for large-format filmmaking.”
Built for professional filmmaking
The GF19-35mmT3.5 PZ OIS WR inherits much of the design philosophy of Fujifilm’s high-end Premista cinema lenses while reducing weight to approximately 2.1kg, making it more practical for handheld, gimbal and solo productions.
Key filmmaking features include:
- Constant T3.5 aperture throughout the zoom range
- Electronic power zoom when paired with the GFX ETERNA 55
- Independent focus, zoom and iris rings
- Standard 0.8M cinema gear pitch for compatibility with professional follow-focus systems
- Approximately 200-degree focus rotation for precise manual focus
- Identical dimensions to the GF32-90mmT3.5 PZ OIS WR for easier rig changes
The supplied GFX ETERNA 55 handle also enables direct control of focus, zoom and iris while supporting constant-speed zoom and focus functions for efficient one-person operation.
High-resolution large-format optics
The lens features a sophisticated optical design comprising 23 elements in 15 groups, including four ED elements and three aspherical elements.
Fujifilm says the design delivers image quality approaching that of a prime lens while maintaining the flexibility of a zoom. The lens has also been engineered to minimise optical aberrations, suppress focus breathing and deliver consistent colour reproduction alongside the GF32-90mmT3.5 PZ OIS WR.
Additional optical technologies include:
- Nano GI coating to minimise flare and ghosting
- 13-blade circular aperture for smooth bokeh
- Reduced focus breathing for stable framing
- Improved light transmission for high-contrast imagery
- Image stabilisation and autofocus
The GF19-35mmT3.5 PZ OIS WR incorporates upgraded optical image stabilisation designed to improve handheld shooting performance, particularly for wide-angle work and gimbal operation.
High-speed drive motors also provide responsive and accurate control of focus, zoom and iris adjustments during filming.
