Our demands for bandwidth requirements and capabilities of the latest devices means our infrastructure has to keep up. Zyxel Networks has unveiled their new XGS2220 Layer 3 Access Switch series to help SMBs keep up with the growing demands and expectations placed on their networks.

The latest devices including WiFi 6/6E wireless APs, laptops, servers, and workstations, are putting a huge strain on today’s networks. The XGS2220 series offers SMBs, hotels, schools, system integrators, MSPs, and small service providers who run distributed, 300 to 500-person scale networks with a versatile, feature-rich switch to help keep up and manage growing demands.

Fully-fledged designs to meet every need

The XGS2220 series includes six different models, with 24 and 48 gigabit ports offering standard network connections, three PoE models to address power hungry installations, and a fiber-only model for fiber-aggregation that allow for gigabit upgrades to be carried out for a wide range of devices across a variety of network infrastructures. With a generous power budget of 400W to 960W, the PoE models can easily accommodate the latest WiFi 6/6E APs, as well as VoIP, surveillance and networked AV devices.

All models are equipped with six 10G uplinks, including four 10G SFP+ to remove network bottlenecks, and two additional 10G Multi-Gig RJ 45 ports that provide more flexibility to connect to servers, network storage, and other high-speed network devices.

The new switch series has also been designed to meet enterprise-level applications. It supports full Layer 2 features – including advanced features such as QinQ VLAN tunneling and VLAN translation – and Layer 3 static routing capabilities, granting users more control over larger and more complicated network structures.

To keep the switches running as efficiently as possible, the smart fan design facilitates the fan speed based on the switch operating temperature, which not only saves energy but ensures the switch runs silently most of the time. High-quality hardware also means the switch will last for a longer period of time.

Easy connection, flexibly managed

With the XGS2220 series, users have the option of managing the switches in standalone mode or in Nebula cloud managed mode. This means businesses can manage the switches in a style that suits them and have the flexibility to change how they operate the switches when needed.

The XGS2220 series comes with a one-year Nebula Pro license which provides advanced IGMP technology, network analytics alerts and more, that allow resellers, MSPs, and network admins to experience the simplicity, scalability, and flexibility of Zyxel’s Nebula networking solution.

Made for professional AVoIP applications

Zyxel’s new switch series also supports networked AV mode, providing an easy and stable network solution for schools using display screens, to sports bars showing matches, and even for control center video wall displays. The tailor-made setup wizard addresses the most utilized features of AVoIP applications, while a dedicated networked AV dashboard presents the most useful elements such as port, system, and bandwidth, making operation as simple as possible.

The new XGS2220 series provides our customers with a robust solution to the growing bandwidth demands of modern devices,” comments Mr. Gary Chen, ANZ regional head at Zyxel Networks. “Our new switch series has been designed to handle the pressure. It also provides a number of new features and management options, to make operation as easy as possible for the user.
