I admit, there are some people that do enjoy cleaning, but I am not one of them.
Could a new hard floor cleaner, self-styled as a bionic cleaner no less, make our floors sparkling clean again with the least amount of muss and fuss?
Lessee… Come with me on a journey where we get down and dirty, so to speak, but where you will be pleasantly surprised, both at the ease of it all and the end result.
May I present to you the new HIZERO F500 All-In-One Bionic Hard Floor Cleaner?

When my wife first saw the assembled unit, she exclaimed: What a beautiful vacuum cleaner!
And indeed, the gleaming white F500 has a very elegant presence.
But a vacuum cleaner it is not.
It does not use suction power to get rid of dust and detritus on your floor.
Let me explain – or better yet, let the folks from HIZERO explain the very innovative technology behind the HIZERO models.
According to the website: HIZERO UltimateClean technology utilizes a high-density polymer roller to create bionic movement, to sweep & mop at the same time in one pass.
After the Cleaning Roller picks up the dust and other gunk, the Brush Roller separates the hard waste into a tray and liquids go into the Dirty Water tank.
At the same time the Cleaning Roller is constantly being flushed from the Clean Water tank.
Seems simple enough but I can’t imagine how much effort it must have been to get all of that right…

A Quick Word about Assembly
The well-packaged unit requires a bit of assembly.
Do spend a few minutes looking at the clear manual.

The main thing to do is to take the polymer roller out of the container and put it in the machine.
I’ve never handled a moist, polymer roller before but it feels different, almost like handling a moist frog…
Don’t be put off by that remark but that clammy consistency of the roller is the secret to its efficiency in picking everything off your floor.
And after a few hours charging, she’s ready to roll!

Testing
First test was on our relatively new jarrah kitchen floor.
Earlier I made a request of my wife that I never hope to repeat: Could you please not clean the kitchen floor for the next couple of weeks whilst we’re waiting for the new HIZERO to arrive?
Well, that went over like a lead balloon, but she was also very much looking forward to getting a better solution for cleaning our hard floors.
We both were very pleased to see the immediate difference with the jarrah having a rejuvenated look. And great to walk on with bare feet.
Was the F500 able to reach the very edges, where typically a lot of the crumbs tend to congregate?
No, neither did our previous vac/mop.
But a quick swipe with a nozzled stick vac took care of that too.
The F500 can swivel and rotate to get underneath cupboards and other furniture.
Next lot of testing was done on the old jarrah floors of the lounge and dining.
Same pleasing results.
This was an area that we did not dare do with our heated steam mop but no worries with the HIZERO technology!
Last testing ground was the tiled hallways. Again, great result.

More Testing
So, we upped the stakes and poured some milk and rice down on the tiles.
Normally, for a spill like that, we’d get some paper towels and a dustpan & brush to clean up that mess before mopping.
How satisfying to see the HIZERO slide over this and in one pass it was all gone!!
Have a look at the little video at the end of this article.
The amazing thing really was in opening the Cleaning Head lid and find the rice and dust completely separated from the milk spill which filled the dirty water container!
Staying Power
How much of an area can the F500 cover on 1 charge?
With a runtime of 60 minutes, you could cover up to 600 sqm.
Your mileage will vary, if you do an intensive clean or just a round of maintenance cleaning.
The website says 1 litre of clean water covers 1067 sqft, or roughly 100 sqm.
Our test area was around 35 square metres, and we used exactly 1 litre.
Of, course we fiddled around a bit more than if you would do a regular clean where you use less water.
I was surprised that probably at least 90% of the clean water ended up in the dirty water tank. That means very little water ends up on your floors and you can walk on them almost immediately.
With the HIZERO not using noisy suction power, it is almost silent to use (less than 60dB).

Cleaning Up Afterwards
Alright, the HIZERO is absolutely fantastic in cleaning up your mess, but what about cleaning up the F500 itself?
Here again, this unit has been designed thoughtfully.
Toss out the dirty water in the loo and toss out the trash container contents in the bin. Rinse both.
Most of the time that’s all you need to do.
If you have pet hair to deal with, a cleverly devised plastic ring slides all the hair off the brush roller.
If you want to give the unit a thorough clean, well, there is an app (sorry, a Mode Program) for that. This will clean and moisten the roller. That takes less than 5 minutes.
Consumables
Not surprisingly, the HIZERO works best with a drop (actually a capful) of their “secret sauce” solution.
A litre of this is 19.95 bucks. The unit comes with a 100ml sample bottle.
Similarly, the polymer cleaning roller will lose some of its effectiveness over time and they recommend replacing it every six months.
That schedule is probably based on using the appliance daily.
Same with the brush roller. Best value is the Maintenance Pack at just over 100 bucks which has all 3 consumables in it.
Who Needs a HIZERO in Their Lives?
Not everyone who wants a HIZERO necessarily needs one, but there’s one demographic who absolutely needs a unit like this.
Young families with messy eaters (or with house pets).
For them a HIZERO is a godsend.
And, of course, for folks that have “acres” of hard floors.
It’s an investment that pays off handsomely by reducing the tedious work of trying to keep the floors clean.
Possible Improvements?
On charging: I thought the floor stand might have incorporated the charging contacts, as with many other vac/mops.
That was indeed the case with the earlier HIZERO model, and it would be handier as you don’t have to find the power cord and plug it in the back.
Also, I’d love my floor care appliances to come with LED headlights.
They light your path on the darker winter days but more importantly: they really show up the crud ahead.
And I love to see the dirt before it disappears…
Conclusion
In the over 20 years of having reviewed countless tech and lifestyle products, we look for items that represent great innovation and score high on the Value-for-Money scale before recommending them to our audience.
And occasionally, we come across a product and a company that ticks all the boxes.
Such is the case with the HIZERO F500 Bionic Hard Floor Cleaner.
We love the technology that sweeps up dust and dirt plus liquids effortlessly and separates them neatly. No noisy suction!
We love the svelte look of the F500 in gleaming white.
We love the cleaning results and the ease of cleaning up the appliance afterwards.
We think the price point, (AUD$999), whilst high, is reasonable, given the pricing of some of the competition out there.
In light of this we don’t hesitate to give the HIZERO F500 our highest acclamation, the DRN Pulse Award!

Whilst you’re there you might take them up on their offer of 10% off your first purchase.
We thank Innovative Home Solutions for making the F500 available for our review.
(As an aside, these folks also represent the equally amazing Laurastar Ironing System, which we reviewed some 10 years ago! This unit is still going strong in our family…)
