OURA 4 Ceramic Ring is an exercise in advanced health tracking style, functionality and mindfulness. The highly accurate continuous data provides an in-depth view of your wellbeing to ensure you remain at your optimum all day, every day.
There’s something deeply reassuring about technology that chooses subtlety over spectacle. Now I’m in my mid 50’s , I’ve well and truly reached the stage of life where I’m not interested in gadgets that shout for attention. I want tools that gently support me, fit into my rhythm, and teach me something about myself I didn’t already know.
That’s precisely the space where the Oura Ring 4 Ceramic fits in.

What’s in the Box?

Oura 4 Ceramic Ring Launch, Sydney March 2026

DRN was invited to attend the Australian Oura 4 Ceramic launch in Sydney in March. It was an educational evening, and the moment when I commenced my Oura 4 Ceramic Ring in Cloud journey.
From the initial welcome and chat with Oura Industry experts, to the goodie bag with our Oura Ring (size preorganised), lifestyle socks, books and activity tables, it was an exercise in relaxation and mindfulness. I gladly wandered over to the Sound Bar where we lay upon soft yoga mats, and listened to somnolent chanting and gentle instruments played in the background.

After 15 minutes of utter peace, I made my way to the tea table where I was able to create my own Oura Tea using a variety of tea leaves and additional aromatics. My final pitstop activity for the evening was to create my own special sleep scent. Joining other guests at the table, I methodically went about creating the optimal sleep scent to spray on my pillow and bed at night.

The evening focused on the health benefits of using your Oura ring. All guests learned how the Oura 4 Ceramic Ring’s integrated relaxation techniques support our modern busy lifestyles. I admit I expected a simple step and sleep tracker, but instead, there is so much more to the Oura 4 Ceramic Ring.

First Impressions: Understated Elegance
To be truthful, I’ve always had a complicated relationship with wearables. Watches feel bulky, wristbands intrusive, and anything that interrupts my sleep is immediately evicted from my person. When I get home, every adornment is immediately removed! The Oura Ring, though, is different.
The Ceramic finish is the first thing that struck me; it’s soft, matte, and feels far more like a piece of jewellery than a piece of technology.
It doesn’t scream bio-tracker and look at moi. If anything, it whispers understated design. On my hand it looked refined, and I felt calmed by its presence.
As someone who appreciates aesthetics but values function more, this mattered. It didn’t feel like I was wearing tech, it felt like I was wearing something quietly yet purposefully elegant.

The First Night: A Surprising Insight
Sleep, what’s that? Hormonal changes, stress, more restless nights than not; these are part of my sleep landscape now.
The first time I wore the Oura Ring to bed, I did so with what I’d call cautious optimism. But the next morning on opening the Oura app, I was actually pleasantly surprised.
It didn’t just tell me how long I slept. It told me:
- How long I spent in deep sleep
- When my body was most restless
- My heart rate patterns
- My overnight temperature fluctuations

The Oura 4 Ceramic Ring recorded a layered and insightful breakdown of my night. And it has continued to build a story, night after night, and given me understanding of my physiology I’ve not had previously.
And here’s the thing: it is accurate. Or at least, it aligned deeply with how I felt. That groggy, fractured morning? The data reflected it. The rare, restorative night? Also there.
There’s something incredibly empowering about that alignment and learning to understand my body, mind and rhythms to a much deeper level.
How it works
The Oura 4 Ceramic Ring is different because it frames your day through Readiness, Activity and Sleep Scores. The focus points are listed below:

Or, to look at it another way: it is less “did you do enough”, and more “what does your body need today” mindset. Quite refreshing when you consider every other wearable device is telling you to push yourself harder.
I quite like the fact the Oura 4 Ceramic Ring encourages gentler movements like stretching, walking or resting. Dare I say, but I’m pretty sure after three months it knows me better than I know myself. It respects my body and the need for rest and recuperation, something I don’t always do.
Quietly intelligent, the Oura 4 Ceramic Ring reminds us to honour our bodies, not punish them.

Lived Experience
Battery Life
Oura state between 5-8 days of battery life, and I can vouch for the longevity of the charge. It lasts just over eight days for me, and I wear it 24/7.
The App has a little circle representing battery on the top right, and once you reach the final 12 hours, it will turn red.
Charging is fast. You can put it on charge, and come back half an hour later to a full 100%. Nice and quick. Even if you don’t have that amount of time, even ten minutes charging will get you through a couple of days until you can do a full charge.
Hormonal Awareness: A Quiet Revelation
This was perhaps the most personal and surprising benefit.
The Oura App has a Period and Menopause section which is well designed, and helpful in terms of tracking cycles. The information requested is in-depth and personal, but enables the App to tailor advice and observations to your body clock.
I’ve found it really helpful; I’m sure most women would too.
The ring tracks subtle variations in body temperature, which can signal hormonal changes. Over time, I started noticing patterns that aligned with how I felt: fatigue spikes, restless nights, inexplicable dips in energy.
It isn’t diagnostic but it is informative.
For many women in their mid life era, there’s a sense that our bodies become less predictable. The Oura Ring doesn’t fix that, but it provides a lens through which to better understand it.

For younger women, it gives a greater insight into your cycle, and how temperature, sleep, and hormone fluctuations affect your energy and well being.

Stress
Until I had worn the Oura ring for a substantial amount of time, I didn’t realise how stressed I get in certain situations. This insight has enabled me to approach specific situations with greater awareness, and a protectiveness towards my physical, mental and emotional health.

Scrolling down in the stress screen, you can open interactive stress improvement suggestions and links. I’ve screen recorded this for those of you interested. The addition of click through links to help you manage your stress is a great addition to an already comprehensive information screen. Thank you Oura!
Physical Comfort: It Disappears (In the Best Way)
Honestly, you forget you’re wearing it. That’s probably the highest compliment I can give. It’s lightweight, smooth, and doesn’t interfere with:
- Typing
- Sleeping
- Daily routines
- Exercise
- Swimming (Yes, 100% waterproof)
Even washing hands or gardening (yes, I tested that) didn’t feel problematic. The durability of the Ceramic finish held up better than I anticipated. And if need be, you have your cleaning cloth to polish it afterwards.
At night, especially, it’s a revelation. Unlike a smartwatch, there’s no glowing screen, no strap, no sensation of something “on” you . It simply exists.

The App Experience: Clean and Intuitive

I tend to lose patience quickly with complicated interfaces. The Oura app, thankfully, avoids that trap.
It’s clean, and I love the minimalist yet stylised layout, with the following features included:
- Readiness score every day based on sleep, body clock, stress, exercise and symptoms
- Instant heart rate measurement and reports
- Log a meal feature: take a photo in app, or add the meal manually, and the Oura app will analyse and provide nutritional breakdown.

- Resilience measuring with stress management suggestions including guided audio meditation activities.
- Accurate Activity and Daily Movement screens, with calorie burn feature and links to step test and goal progress.
- Thoughtful interpretations and suggestions to improve scores, address concerns, and achieve optimal scores
- Downloadable reports and trends
Here’s my 90 day sleep trend as an example of the excellent reports available:

- Chronotype: I’m very much a night owl. Still figuring out how my average of 23:46 time to get to bed translates as an Early Evening Type, but we’ll go with it!

What I appreciate most is how Oura translates data into meaningful insights. They don’t assume I want raw metrics, they assume I wanted understanding. That’s a subtle but important distinction. So often tracking and wellbeing wearables astound us with data, but not what it actually means. Oura gets it.

Considerations
- You’re entirely reliant on the app
- It’s not designed for real-time workout tracking in the same way you are with a smart watch
- The subscription model ($9.99 per month but first month free) for data insights may not appeal to everyone
- And yes, the price point is significant
This is not an impulse purchase, it’s an investment. In you. But one that, depending on your priorities, may justify itself over time.
There’s just one thing…
The default to ‘Housework’ as an activity is annoying me endlessly. This is despite my ongoing attempts to fool the default setting.
Running? Housework. Driving? Housework. It’s 2026, not 1926. There is the option to edit this activity which I do every time, but I’m hoping the algorithm eventually calms down. Hopefully we’re just one app update away from no more housework :).
Recommendation
The Oura Ring 4 Ceramic isn’t about biohacking or optimisation in the aggressive sense. It’s about awareness. About tuning in, rather than pushing harder. Stylish and comfortable, your Oura 4 Ceramic Ring will quickly become part of your everyday routine.
For me, it has become a quiet companion, something that sits in the background, offering insight without intrusion. And perhaps that’s what makes it so effective.
In a world full of noise, the Oura Ring doesn’t shout. It listens. And, in doing so, it gently teaches you to do the same.
The Oura 4 Ceramic Ring retails for $799.00 and is available through the Oura website and all reputable tech retailers. Be quick and you might score a bargain, as the Oura 5 has just launched and some Oura 4 Ceramic Rings are discounted at this time.

Thank you Oura for the review opportunity; it’s been incredibly insightful.
