Fighting hunger one bowl at a time, Epson is an official partner of Onigiri Action 2023. Running throughout October and November 2023, Epson’s sponsorship will provide children in Africa and Asian with school meals.

According to estimates by several United Nations agencies, as many as 783 million people globally faced hunger in 2022. Hunger remains significantly above pre-COVID pandemic levels, with over 122 million more people facing hunger now than in 2019. This data is from the State of Food Security and Nutrition 2023 by the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the United Nations World Food Programme (UN WFP). The report reveals that between 691 and 783 million people faced hunger in 2022, with a mid-range of 735 million.

Onigiri Action 2023 is an initiative of Table for Two (TFT) a non-profit organisation dedicated to fighting world hunger.

Under the Onigiri Action scheme, each photo of onigiri, a Japanese rice ball, posted to the campaign website or on social media (Instagram, X [formerly Twitter] and Facebook) with the hashtag #OnigiriAction helps provide five school meals to children in need in Africa and Asia through TFT.
