Vinyl might be old-school, but its resurgence is showing no signs of slowing down.
National Vinyl Record Player Day was marked on 12 August, celebrating a format that has found a surprisingly strong audience in the age of Spotify, Apple Music and seemingly endless digital streaming.
In the US alone, vinyl record sales reportedly grew 8.6% in 2025 to reach 47.9 million units, with younger listeners helping drive demand for something a little more tangible than another track in a streaming library.
MIXX is tapping into that appetite with its Revival range of record players, combining decidedly retro styling with some thoroughly modern conveniences.
MIXX Revival 55
At US$103.99, the MIXX Revival 55 is the more affordable of the two and comes in black, cream or turquoise.
The portable suitcase-style player has built-in stereo speakers and supports 33, 45 and 78 RPM records. There’s also a 45 RPM adapter, pitch control and auto-stop functionality.
Where things get more contemporary is Bluetooth.
The Revival 55 supports both Bluetooth input and output. That means you can send the sound from your records to an external Bluetooth speaker, or go in the other direction and use the Revival 55’s built-in speakers to play music streamed from your phone.
There’s also AUX input and line-level output if you’d rather keep things wired.
Underneath, the Revival 55 uses a belt-drive system with a ceramic cartridge, while the wooden body is wrapped in faux leather and fitted with a metal handle and dual buckles for portability.
MIXX Revival 65
The MIXX Revival 65 steps things up considerably, with a US$238.99 asking price and a choice of black or cream finishes.
Arguably the biggest upgrade is where the needle meets the groove.
MIXX has equipped the Revival 65 with an Audio-Technica AT3600L cartridge and diamond-tip stylus, paired with a full-size 33 platter and belt-drive mechanism. It supports 33 and 45 RPM playback, with a 45 RPM adapter included.
Like its cheaper sibling, there’s Bluetooth input and output, built-in stereo speakers, pitch control, auto-stop and AUX connectivity.
The portable wooden chassis is again finished in faux leather, but the Revival 65 also incorporates a viewing window that allows records to be played with the lid closed.
For someone looking to dip a toe into vinyl without immediately buying a separate turntable, amplifier and speakers, the all-in-one approach has obvious appeal.
Whether the Revival 65 can deliver enough audio quality to satisfy more discerning vinyl listeners is another question — and one we’d be interested in putting to the test.
