TP-Link has launched the Tapo RV50 Omni in Australia, introducing a new robot vacuum and mop designed to minimise maintenance by automatically dealing with two of the most common frustrations: tangled pet hair and dock cleaning.
The Tapo RV50 Omni combines 12,000Pa suction with a self-maintaining Omni dock that washes and dries its mop pads, empties its dustbin and manages hair removal without manual intervention.
Designed for homes with pets
One of the standout features is TP-Link’s tangle-free cutting brush, which automatically cuts away hair wrapped around the roller when the robot returns to its dock. Rather than requiring owners to regularly remove tangled hair by hand, the system is designed to perform the task automatically.
For hard floor cleaning, the RV50 Omni uses dual spinning mop pads rotating at 180 RPM with 8N of downward pressure, providing a scrubbing action rather than simply dragging a damp cloth across the floor.
When carpet is detected, the robot lifts its mop pads before returning to the dock, where they can be automatically detached, helping prevent damp pads from contacting rugs or carpeted surfaces.

Pet Zone mode targets high-traffic pet areas with increased cleaning frequency, while the Tapo RV50 Omni boosts suction to tackle pet hair, food spills and everyday mess.
Self-maintaining Omni dock
The accompanying Omni dock is designed to reduce ongoing maintenance.
After each cleaning session it automatically:
- Empties the onboard dustbin into a 3L dust bag
- Washes the mop pads
- Dries the pads using 50°C warm air
- Stores 5L of clean water and 4L of dirty water
The robot also features a 5200mAh battery with recharge-and-resume functionality for larger homes.
LiDAR navigation and smart home integration
Navigation is handled by 360-degree dToF LiDAR, enabling high-precision mapping, multi-floor support and intelligent route planning.
Through the Tapo app, users can configure:
- Scheduled cleaning
- No-go zones
- Zone cleaning
- Multi-floor maps
- Pet Zone mode for higher-frequency cleaning around food bowls and litter trays
The RV50 Omni is also Matter compatible and supports both Amazon Alexa and Google Home for voice control.

The TP-Link Tapo RV50 Omni returns to its self-maintaining Omni dock, which automatically empties the dustbin, washes and dries the mop pads, and manages hair removal between cleaning sessions.
Availability
The TP-Link Tapo RV50 Omni is available now through the Tapo online store and participating Australian retailers for an RRP of AU$899.
“Most people love the idea of a robot vacuum until they have to clean it. With the RV50 Omni we wanted something that genuinely looks after itself, from the tangle-free brush to a dock that washes and dries its own mops, so it keeps working in the background of a busy home,” said Neville Wang, Managing Director, TP-Link Australia and New Zealand.
