The BookArc Flex by Twelve South is a versatile and innovative addition to the world of tech accessories, offering a sleek, simple and functional design that caters to the modern workspace. As someone who values both form and function, I found the addition of the BookArc Flex to my desk, creating an organised and visually appealing workspace, elevated my productivity.

The Look

The first thing that caught my eye was the minimalist yet sophisticated packaging. Taking the product of its box, the BookArc Flex felt light in my hands. It boasts a sleek aluminium construction, which not only looks good in my workspace but also feels durable. I chose the black version to complement my timber workspace at home, but if black doesn’t suit your aesthetic it also comes in white and chrome.

Slimline, space saving

What sets the Book Arc Flex apart from other laptop stands is its flexibility. The adjustable width/angle options provide a customisable, ergonomic experience, allowing me to find the perfect position for storing my laptop, without compromising space on my desk. The stand is compatible with a wide range of laptops and tablets, making it a convenient choice for users with various devices. Being slimline and sleek, you are sure to find somewhere to place it even on the most crowded of workspaces.

The base of the stand is equipped with non-slip silicone pads, ensuring stability and preventing my laptop from sliding around. It is suggested to place the laptop hinge edge down and perpendicular (90° angle) to the desk.

Diverse uses

Beyond serving as a laptop stand, it potentially doubles as a tablet or book stand, adding value for users with diverse needs. After being satisfied that my laptop was held safely and securely in the BookArc Flex, I tested its suitability for my Lenovo Yoga tablet. The tablet was held securely in a landscape orientation. However, I had less success when using the tablet in a portrait orientation due to the tablet being narrower than the width of the silicone brackets on the BookArc Flex. Despite this, the ability to easily switch between laptop and tablet storage does make it a versatile solution for those who frequently alternate between work modes.

When testing its versatility as a potential book stand, results were mixed, which seems fair as its initial design brief is to store or hold laptops. Heavy books tended to fall backward or forward when placed in an open position for reading.

No assembly is required. The compact design allows for easy portability, which makes it simple for me to slip into my work bag to take to my school staff room and home again.
